At Intersett Paving we specialise in block paving, with a combined experience of over 25 years in the trade.  We can source blocks of all sizes, styles and colours depending upon your requirements.

Block Paving

Block paving has seen one of the biggest growths in popularity and production of any building material over the last 20 years. Mass production has massively reduced the costs of slabs, making it perfect for almost any budget or project. Block paving can be use in nearly all setting and projects, it looks great on drives, patios, and paths and has a fantastic long life of faithful service. It is fantastically hardy material, withstanding frosts, salts, oils and most chemical. The blocks provide a more attractive alternative to plain concrete driveways and paths and are used for everything from small garden patios to large freight yards. The design possibilities offered by these small bricks are practically endless, with a huge variety of colours, shapes, sizes and styles available, if you can imagine in, it can most probably be achieved with block paving. The most popular block paving designs include the 45 degree and 90 degree herringbone, basket weave and stretcher bond, although there are many more available.

Most block paving is carried out using either moulded concrete blocks (CBP- Concrete Block Pavers) or kiln-fired clay bricks.  These both come in a variety of thicknesses, however 50mm to 60mm is the most popular for domestic block paving projects while 80mm is the most popular choice for roads or other areas of heavy vehicle usage.  The colouring of the brick is achieved by concrete dyes, at is often the quality and longevity of the dye that determines the price of the block.  Another fantastic feature of block paving is that it is relatively low maintenance, requiring occasional sweeping and bi-annual weed killer treatment.  Despite common practice, regularly pressure washing your block paving will slowly weaken the jointing and damage the colouring of the brick.
